DSS.....The New DG

The news of the appointment of a new Director-General of the DSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi was greeted with mixed reactions from different quarters. Going through the profile of the new DG, Yusuf M. Bichi, one will agree that it is an appointment worthy of applause. As it is known, such appointments are based on the appointees’ expertise and professional inclination-all which the new DG has met.
However, my appeal to fellow country-men who feel otherwise about the replacement of the last Acting DG, Mathew Seyefa, is that it should be taken all as ways of moving forward in the country. Appointments have been well-spread to all geo-political zones of the Federation in recent times. We can only move forward as a country when we stop harbouring thoughts of ethno-religious biasness. We should see every Nigerian called to serve as our own irrespective of his zone or religious profession.
We all have seen how unity and patriotism can make a country great. A living example is the United States of America which gives room to all to serve the nation without a necessary recourse to sectionalism. The overall interest is the `Nation First’. That is important because if we don’t promote peace, unity and progress in our own country, we might end up becoming settlers
The spirit of unity will make the entire people strong and unconquerable. Those who do not desire to see that Nigeria progresses will always throw an apple of discord among us to keep us divided and unfocussed. There is beauty in our diversity in terms of language, custom, culture and many more. If only Nigerians could be united as they are usually united when the nation’s Super Eagles play match,the country would have attained the first super power in Africa!

I totally disagree with you sir on this appointment. Calling back a retired secret policeman to take up the highest office in the service where we have very brilliant personnel that could do the job is to me, a calculated attempt to cause disunity in the service and as well send wrong signals to those qualified men and women. The action of the president is aimed at reducing dedication and hard work because why should I work so tirelessly when I know that my hard work will not be rewarded?
